How Does the iTind™ Procedure Work?

A urologist at our facility in Aventura will perform the iTind™ procedure on an outpatient basis. The prostatic urethra, which is the constrictive part of the prostate, is temporarily filled with the iTind™ device, which gradually expands and applies moderate pressure at three specific locations. The iTind™ implant widens the prostatic urethral aperture, allowing urine to flow more freely through it. The device works to reshape the prostate while you are recovering. After 5 to 7 days this temporary implant device will be removed at our Aventura urology office. Clinical research shows that the altered prostate will continue to offer long-lasting relief from BPH symptoms.

What to Expect on the Day of the Procedure

On the day of your procedure, you may be given a local anesthesia and numbing cream. The urologist will insert the small implant into your prostate via your urethra. The procedure is very straightforward and you will be home the same day. Be sure to have someone with you to drive you home.

What Happens After Your Implant is Placed?

After your procedure the device will be in your prostate for 5-7 days. There will be a small string attached to the implant present outside the penis. Avoid strenuous work and activity as the iTind™ slowly and gently reshapes your prostate over your recovery period.
