Rezūm Therapy for Enlarged Prostate
We’re excited to tell you about a new procedure that we recently introduced into our practice at Uromedix in Aventura, Pembroke Pines and Hialeah.
What is Rezūm Water Vapor Therapy?
Rezūm is an effective treatment for men with enlarged prostate (BPH) symptoms. In summary, the Rezūm system utilizes water vapor energy powered by radio frequency to deliver targeted, controlled doses of thermal energy to the region of the prostate that causes symptoms such as frequency, irregular flow, urgency, weak stream, straining to urinate and waking during the night to urinate.
Patients with BPH opt for Rezūm as a way to get off medication and avoid surgery. Rezūm provides a similar result to surgery without the side-effects (no sexual side-effects, no cutting, no incontinence, and little discomfort post procedure). Rezūm has been found to shrink the prostate by 30-40%.
Each Rezūm procedure takes about 2-4 minutes and is a rigid cystoscopy with 2-4, 9-second Water Vapor treatments delivered into the prostate tissue. Our urologists perform the Rezūm procedure in our clinic inAventura or at an outpatient setting.

How Rezūm Works

Rezūm Treatment Process
During each 9-second treatment, sterile water vapor is released throughout the targeted prostate tissue. When the steam contacts the prostate tissue, all the stored energy is released into the tissue. Your doctor will determine the amount of treatments you need, based on the size of your prostate.
Over time, your body’s natural healing response absorbs the treated tissue, shrinking the prostate. With the extra tissue removed, the urethra opens, reducing BPH symptoms.
Most patients begin to experience symptom relief in as soon as two weeks, and maximum benefit may occur within three months.1,2 Patient responses can and do vary.
Why choose the Rezūm procedure:
• Is an alternative to BPH medications
• Relieves symptoms safely and effectively1
• Provides noticeable symptom improvement within two weeks
• Is a simple in-office/out-patient therapy
• Does not require general anesthesia
• Preserves erectile and urinary functions1
• Allows my patients to return to regular activities within a few days1
• Is considered medically necessary by Medicare and covered by most private insurance*
